Southgate hints at quitting if no progress in England team

England coach Gareth Southgate has admitted he won’t get past his welcome for the job.

Southgate recently signed a contract that runs until 2024 and says he would not consider stepping down if he feels he has taken the team as far as possible.

“I have to manage the way I see fit. Don’t get me wrong, I feel where the room is with her. I wouldn’t be outdone my welcome but I think I can do well for the team – and I think we’ve done well for the team.”

“We will continue to improve the team, which we have done over a fixed period of time.”

“We are also developing young players as well which leaves England in a good place for a long time to come.”

The Three Lions will host Italy this evening in the third round of the European Nations League, Group A3, the third round.

Southgate’s men take no wins in their first two opening matches, losing once and drawing one.
