Reports: Man United join race for Christian Eriksen

Erik ten Hag is allegedly desperate to sign Brentford player Christian Eriksen this summer.

Having been fitted with a pacemaker and an implantable defibrillator after suffering a heart failure at Euro 2020 last summer, the 30-year-old has miraculously made a return to the Premier League with the Bees (ICD).

Eriksen was forced to leave Inter Milan when the ICD was installed, prompting Brentford to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur player on a six-month deal in January.

Eriksen He scored one goal and added four assists in 11 Premier League games in 2021-22, and his future is uncertain as he prepares to become a free agent at the end of the month.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United have joined a long list of teams hoping to sign Eriksen on a free transfer this summer, with Ten Hag seeing the playmaker as an ideal low-cost addition.

Eriksen has been invited to Amsterdam for training sessions to help him get back in shape after a long sabbatical, and the former midfielder has claimed the former Ajax coach is “extremely happy”.

According to the article, Brentford is ready to make Eriksen the highest-paid player ever if he signs a new contract, but the lure of European football could be too strong for the Dane as he prepares for the 2022 World Cup.

Everton and Tottenham have also been linked with Eriksen, who left Liljuice in January 2020 after a six-and-a-half-year spell to join Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.

Tottenham’s Champions League status could give them an edge in competition for Eriksen, who has scored 69 goals and provided 90 assists in 305 appearances for the north London side.
