Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out for upto eight months

AC Milan have confirmed that superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be out for up to eight months after undergoing successful knee surgery on Wednesday.

The announcement comes just days after the Rossoneri won their first Serie A title after 11 years.

A statement from the club on Wednesday read:

“AC Milan announces that Zlatan Ibrahimovic underwent an operation on his left knee performed by Dr. Bertrand Sonneri-Cottet, in the presence of the club’s medical director Stefano Mazzoni, at the Jean Mermoz Hospital in Lyon.

“Arthroscopy has been planned for a while to definitively resolve joint instability through ACL reconstruction, with lateral strengthening and meniscus repair.

“The operation was completely successful and the prognosis is between 7 and 8 months,” he said.

The striker has one year left on his current contract, and it is not clear if he will extend his stay.

Ibrahimovic struggled with an injury campaign with the new Serie A champions but it was impressive as the Rossoneri marched to victory in a busy season.
