Barcelona president Joan Laporta has criticized the agent of midfielder Jaffe after the player was late in signing a new deal with the club.
The 17-year-old La Masia graduate was highly rated by the club after breaking into the Spanish national team but speaking to L’Esportiu via Fabrizio Romano, Laporta feels the player has been misled by his representative.
Gavi has already attracted plenty of fans from several top clubs from across Europe, including Liverpool, heading into the summer window and Barcelona want to tie him up on a longer deal to weed out these clubs’ interest.
Laporta: “Gavi is only 17 years old, but he has a present and a future in Barcelona. I don’t understand why his agent delayed the deal. Our salary offer is more than acceptable. We won’t improve the offer, because I don’t understand we don’t want Barcelona to continue on the same path it was on.” By us “. pic.twitter.com/GMuZJSK94c

Gavi’s current contract with Barcelona is set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season, while it also includes a release clause of just €50m, which interested parties can push away from the Camp Nou.
