After failing to reach Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid will turn to Raheem Sterling in the summer, according to the latest reports.
First, an offer of €230m was rejected by PSG in 2021. Then it was a rejection of a £110m sign-on bonus and £20m-a-year salary among other benefits from Mbappe.
Los Blancos’ biggest dream turned into a nightmare after all their hopes were pinned on the botched deal.
Now, the club is in dire need of a big name signing and has identified Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling as the replacement they need before the summer transfer market opens.
Sterling has been a solid servant of Manchester City since he joined them from Liverpool in 2015 for £49m. After Pep Guardiola joined the club, his role evolved into an indispensable player, but somehow, he hasn’t been able to get a starting point in the past few seasons.
It has been reported that he is considering his future and a move to Spain was on his list. Barcelona were reported to be interested in him at the time, and it was also recently reported that they were contacting him again before the upcoming window.
Dailystar, however, claims that Barcelona could see some competition from Madrid, as Los Blancos plot a £50m bid to buy Sterling, which they have long admired.
The signing of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez could affect the English player’s chances at City next season, so Sterling’s transfer is not far off.
However, it remains to be seen if City will let him go, as his current contract with City expires in 2023. It also remains to be seen if Sterling will choose Real Madrid over Barcelona, the 27-year-old has been told to be a fan of the club. Catalan.
