The curtains officially fell in the 2021/22 La Liga season, with Real Madrid winning the title.
The battle of Pichichi, which was awarded to the player with the most goals in a season, was also decided long ago, with Karim Benzema far ahead of his closest rivals.
The Frenchman scored 27 goals to lead Real Madrid to the title, nine goals ahead of Iago Aspas, who scored 18 goals.
Benzema’s performances with Carlo Ancelotti made him the favorite for the Ballon d’Or in a season in which he tied with Raul Gonzalez for the second place on the scorers list in Real Madrid’s history.
