The 22-year-old had his contract with Ligue 1 club expired this summer and was linked to a number of high-profile clubs on a free transfer.
“I am delighted that we have been able to attract one of the most promising young talents in European football,” Villa coach Steven Gerrard told the club’s official website.
“We have a very clear plan to make our team stronger and Bubba is an important part of that.”
Camara added: “When I met Stephen, Christian and Johan at my home I knew Aston Villa would suit me.
“Their ambition and determination to succeed is in line with mine. I can’t wait for the pre-season to start.”
Camara came through the ranks of Marseille and made 170 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and making six more.
