Ten Hag discusses three Man United players including Ronaldo

Manchester United boss Eric Ten Hag is looking forward to his reunion with Donny van de Beek.

The midfielder was part of the Ajax side led by Ten Hag that reached the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals before moving to the Reds in 2020.

However, he was transferred on loan to Everton at the start of the Premier League season after struggling for match time at Old Trafford.

When asked at his first press conference if he was keen to meet his compatriot again, Ten Hag replied:

“Yes, of course, we had a great team at that time in Ajax.

“I had a really good relationship with him and of course I’m looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.”

The Dutchman was also asked if he was looking forward to working with Ronaldo, he replied;

“Of course,” Eric smiled. When asked which scorer last season he could achieve, the president laughed: “Ronaldo? Goals!” He then stressed that he would discuss his plans with the Portugal international soon.

“I talk to Ronaldo first before I talk to you,” he confirmed.

The 52-year-old is also keen to work with captain Harry Maguire, who has come under fire in recent months.

“I have to repeat that next season is a different season, but I think he did a great job,” the coach said. “He’s a great player, he’s already achieved a lot too [with his] Contribution to Manchester United. So I look forward to working with him.”

Man United are scheduled to resume pre-season training on 27 June 2022 in preparation for the new season.
