Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is in advanced talks with FC Barcelona over a possible move in the summer.
Barcelona are looking for a left-back to advance the competition for Jordi Alba and settled on Jose Luis Gaya of Valencia and Alonso, with Sport newspaper reporting that club president Joan Laporta dined with Valencia on Tuesday to discuss Gaia’s case.
Gaia’s contract expired in 2023 and he has a renewal offer but Valencia are willing to sell him to balance their financial books but Barcelona prefer Alonso at the moment because of his experience.

Reports say talks over the Spain defender signing a three-year deal are ahead, pending Alonso’s talks with Chelsea to allow him to leave this summer.
Alonso also has a contract until 2023 and has been approached by Atletico Madrid as well, but he wants a move to Camp Nou and hopes Chelsea will negotiate.
