Another extended transfer saga of the season appears to be coming to an end after reports from The Athletic claim that Kylian Mbappe has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old striker has been the subject of transfer speculation with Real Madrid for two seasons and it is becoming increasingly clear that this is the year he will sign for the 13-time Champions League winners.
His current contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires in June, which will make him a free agent. The 10-time Ligue 1 champion did everything in his power to keep Mbappe, including giving him a massive raise on his current salary as well as multiple bonuses based on performance, but it appears he has made his decision to leave.
He was recently voted Ligue 1’s Player of the Season for the third year in a row (excluding the year of the Covid-19 pandemic) and will leave PSG after five seasons, 216 games, 169 goals and 87 assists. He has also won 11 titles in that time frame, while collecting a host of local and world singles awards.
Mbappe joked that fans would soon know his decision on Monday, before reports emerged of his personal agreement with Real Madrid. “It will be known very soon, it is almost over,” Mbappe said at the National Football Association Awards, where he was named Ligue 1 player of the year for the third consecutive season. “I made up my mind, yes, almost.
“Why have you been so slow? You have to respect all sides. I know people expected a lot from me. It’s normal. I’m in a hurry too. But it’s not just about me. But here it is, it’s over now, only a few details left.” .
In the meantime, Real Madrid will drop some key players in the summer which will make way for Mbappe in the squad.
Mbappe signs for five years
Some reports have claimed that the World Cup winner will contract with Los Meringues for the next five seasons and that his salary will be less than his salary at Paris Saint-Germain, which is said to be about 450 thousand euros per week.
Mark In particular, he made these allegations, noting that they were the outcome of his visit to Madrid last weekend. The striker was spotted in Madrid ahead of his last Ligue 1 game, and it was rumored he had come to end his move.
Marca claimed the same, noting that Mbappe would leave a lot of money at PSG to play for Madrid, which has always been his dream.
