Aston Villa wants to sign Coutinho on a permanent deal

Premier League side Aston Villa want to sign midfielder Philippe Coutinho on a permanent deal.

The Brazilian arrived at Villa in January from Barcelona on a six-month loan after former team-mate Steven Gerrard convinced him and because of his drop in sterling, they wanted to turn the deal into a permanent deal.

Things did not work out with Coutinho at Barcelona after his big money move in 2018 and reports are circulating that the La Liga giants want to see his back and want him from their wage bill.

A report from Radio Catalonia via the Sport Witness website stated that Barcelona confirmed Villa’s interest in them. They say talks are progressing between the two clubs but fees have yet to be agreed.

There are allegations that Villa have a clause in the loan contract to turn the deal into a permanent deal for £34m which is something they feel they can afford but the problem is expected to arise with the player’s wage demands.
