Boost for Man United as Darwin Nunez wants Premier League move

Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of striker Darwin Nunez as the player is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League.

The Benfica striker is one of the most exciting characteristics in this window, and there have been reports that Atletico Madrid have been above all in the race to sign the player.

With Edinson Cavani set to leave in the summer and Anthony Martial’s future still uncertain, United want a new player to lead the hunt for goals and feel Nunez is the player.

According to the Mirror, Nunez’s advisors believe his style could be a perfect fit for English football and United hope the 22-year-old Uruguay international would prefer a switch to the Premier League.

United are in big trouble getting the player because they won’t be in the Champions League next season with the likes of Atleti and Bayern up front.

But the Premier League side may have the financial strength Benfica needs to allow the player to leave. The striker, who has a contract until 2025, has a blanket buyout clause of £130m. But his club will be up for sale for £70m as they try to balance their books.
