Manchester City are close to signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland went through a City doctor on Monday ahead of his proposed move to the Premier League after the club agreed to trigger the striker’s €75m penalty clause.
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes that City’s proposed signing of Haaland this summer will set new levels in the transfer market.
“I signed a new contract knowing City won’t stop developing. It’s not about City deciding whether we can be happy or not, it’s about us and what we can do,” he said.
“You have a lot of chances and a lot of different ways to win a football match, and we just have to find one. Obviously it is possible and we can do it.”
“We play City 2, 3 – with trophies and the Champions League – five and six times a year maybe but no more than the rest.”
“If Erling Haaland went there, he wouldn’t weaken them, definitely not. I think there’s been enough talk about this transfer. I know there’s a lot of talk about money, but this transition will set new levels, let me say it like it.”
Upon completion of his move to City, the 21-year-old will become one of the club’s best-paid stars, on par with Kevin De Bruyne, who currently stands at £375,000 a week.
