Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave an update on Bukayo Saka and Ben White after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal kept their top four hopes alive with a dismal home win against the Whites – thanks to an Eddie Nkeitia double in the first 10 minutes.
The young player scored for the first time after just five minutes when the goalkeeper grabbed the ball to finish from close range.
He then made it 2-0 five minutes later, this time turning Gabriel Martinelli’s cross into the net.
The visitors were reduced midway through the first half when Luke Ayling received a straight red card for a poor lunge on Martinelli.
But they managed to close the gap in the second half, but that proved to be a consolation.
Speaking after the match, Arteta was asked to comment on Saka’s fitness.
“Yeah, he was fine,”
The Spaniard also spoke of White, who is expected to return for the weekend’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Asked if White would be ready for the match, he replied, “I think so.” “He’s starting to do some work now on the pitch and we want everyone to be available because we know the match is very important.”
The confrontation against Antonio Conte’s team will be decisive for both teams. Arsenal will qualify for the Champions League if they beat Tottenham, while a victory for the Lilywhites will move them closer to qualification before the last game of the season.
