Barcelona manager Matteo Alemani has denied any reports that the Catalan giants spoke with Robert Lewandowski’s agent recently to explore a summer move to the Camp Nou.
The future of the Poland international at Bayern Munich remains in doubt, as his current deal at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2023.
Bayern Munich is said to be ready to trade Lewandowski This summer if he does not sign a contract extension, because they fear losing him in a free transfer deal at the end of next season.
Barcelona have been closely linked with the veteran striker, with reports that the La Liga club have already met with his agent, Pini Zahavi, to explore a summer transfer.
However, Alemani stated when asked about recent rumors that his club had not met the agents of the Bayern Munich striker.
“There was no meeting with Lewandowski’s agent. Also, I don’t like to talk about the negotiation process – it’s something private. We don’t want to discuss players contracted with other clubs,” Alemani told Movistar.
The 33-year-old was in good shape again at club level in 2021-22, scoring 49 goals in 44 appearances and adding six assists.
