Real Madrid, the 35-times La Liga champion, is planning an exciting move for his record-breaking goal, Cristiano Ronaldo, to bring him back to the club.
Real Madrid won their 35th La Liga title on Saturday after winning 4-0 at home to Espanyol and are planning another successful season on the back of more star signings.
Kylian Mbappe remains the center of their attention, but the youngster drags his feet on the talks, claiming he has a lot to think about. Regardless, Los Blancos are already chasing their next goals and now one of them is said to be Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old Portuguese star first arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009 and spent the next eight years as the club’s leading man, following the departure of his hometown hero Raul Gonzalez. He scored 451 goals in 438 matches for the club in all competitions, winning four Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.
After an exciting move to Juventus followed by three trophy-filled years at the club, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United where he made a name for himself for the first time.
But the move did not work out for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, despite his impressive performance in front of goal. The club is on the verge of losing Europe and that could lead to his exit just a year after his return.
Incoming manager Erik ten Hag is said to be looking for a younger striker who is ready to let Ronaldo – who United value at under £15m at the moment due to his age – and Real Madrid appear ready to snap up their old star.
A return to Madrid would also attract Ronaldo as the striker is obsessed with the Champions League and Madrid will give him the surest chance of playing – and winning – the competition at least one more time before he spends time in his career.
Ronaldo’s return and the possibility of a combination of dreams may be what the club plans to entice Mbappe as the young striker makes his decision about his future. Having played with Lionel Messi for an entire season and enjoyed a beautiful partnership with the Argentine, he may now have the opportunity to play with his childhood star at the club he supported.
Meanwhile, Man United are already looking for replacements for Ronaldo. It is said that Ten Hag wants to take Sebastian Haller with him to Old Trafford, and the club has contacted Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s representative, for another one of its clients – Benfica star Darwin Nunez.
£67m is the announced offer from United for the star who spent just two seasons at Benfica. Benfica has not responded or even responded to the bid at the time of writing.
