Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema said his team would “do something magical” to reach the Champions League final.
Real Madrid suffered a 4-3 loss against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening. City put in a dominant display and found themselves 2-0 up in 11 minutes before Benzema gave Real Madrid hope with a goal just before the break.
“A defeat is never good,” Benzema told Movistar.
“The most important thing is that we never gave up until the end… Now we have to go to the Bernabéu. We will need the fans like never before. We will do something magical, which is to win.”
The Santiago Bernabeu hosted two dramatic matches in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. They reversed the 1-0 loss in the first leg of Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16, and Benzema scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win at home.
