Tuchel sweating over fitness of three key players ahead of Man United clash

Chelsea will miss the services of a number of its key stars when it faces Manchester United in the English Premier League match on Thursday evening.

Mateo Kovacic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell will all be absent, and four more will be evaluated before the match.

Kovacic is expected to return next week, with Hudson-Odoi and Chilwell’s return dates unclear.

“Cova will be absent, Ben Chilwell will be absent, and Callum will remain,” the Italian coach confirmed.

“Tony Rudiger was in training yesterday, the same for Reece James. I hope they can do the full training today and give us the green light. We have hope that they will be in the team and play tomorrow.

“It’s the same for Andreas. We will need another check-up because he felt ill. He will be back on the training ground today.

Ross Barkley is also sick and will not be on the team.

Chelsea returned to three successive home defeats with a narrow 1-0 home win against West Ham last week.

The two teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the opposite match at Stamford Bridge.
