Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted he was unfair to striker Eddie Nketeia after his outstanding performance against Chelsea.
Nketia was not given enough time to play for Arsenal as Arteta opted to give Alexandre Lacazette the mandate to lead the club’s attack. The England international was given a key role in the match against Chelsea and put in a superb performance in the match, scoring two goals to lead Arsenal to a 4-2 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said, “If there’s one player I’ve been unfair to, it’s him. He’s given me every right to do something different, so if Eddie doesn’t play more, it’s my fault, I missed something or I didn’t have the courage.”
He concluded by saying, “You showed me once again how wrong I was.”
Arteta to the fans
“Then I tell them they have to be at the Emirates Stadium with us on Saturday because we don’t have time to recover and they have to be really loud and loud to help us win the match.”
The 22-year-old has yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners as his current deal expires at the end of this season.
