Manchester United and Liverpool fans will unite today at Anfield to pay their respects to Cristiano Ronaldo following the death of his newborn son on Monday.

Ronaldo and his partner have confirmed that they lost one of their twins at birth and have since been left out of tonight’s game against Liverpool at Anfield.

A United statement read: “Manchester United and Liverpool fans will unite in support of Cristiano Ronaldo and his family in tonight’s match between the two teams at Anfield.

“There will be applause from the fans in the seventh minute of the match in honor of the Portuguese striker and his partner Georgina after we announced their baby boy, who was born on Monday.”

This news comes at a time when messages of goodwill and support are constantly pouring in from across the footballing world in support of the Ronaldo family at this time.

Aside from the applause, United applied to wear black armbands at Anfield, and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team responded in kind.
